Course objectives
This course aims to train and certify personnel specialized in the application of the IPC J-STD-001 standard, “Requirements for Soldered Electrical and Electronic Assemblies”.
The IPC J-STD-001 standard describes materials, methods and verification criteria for producing high-quality soldered interconnections.
This standard emphasizes process control and establishes the industry’s acceptance requirements for a wide range of electronic products.
Course program
The course alternates theory and practice sessions, during which participants practice the operations explained in the theory session. The course strictly follows the training program defined by IPC, both in the teaching material presented and in the assessment tests. Participants receive all the theoretical and practical information needed to develop manual assembly skills capable of producing solder joints — for wires and terminals, through-hole technology components and surface-mount technology components — that comply with the requirements of the certification standard.

Final exam
For the certificate to be issued, an online test is scheduled at the end of each module, and participants must answer at least 70% of the questions correctly.
For the optional modules activated, practical exercises and learning assessment tests are available (optional), involving a series of activities related to the module just completed.
Who is the course for?
Maintenance technicians, operators, process engineers, board repair and rework personnel, quality managers and anyone involved in the quality and reliability of soldered electronic assemblies.
The maximum number of participants is 15; with a minimum of 4 enrollments the course can be held at the customer’s site. A good knowledge of materials and of the basic concepts of manual soldering is required to attend the course.
