Course objectives
This course aims to train and certify personnel specialized in the application of the IPC A-610 standard, “Acceptability of Electronic Assemblies”.
This standard, available in several language editions, has a strong international reputation for the inspection and acceptability criteria of electronic assemblies, from consumer products to high-reliability applications.

Course program
The course is entirely theoretical and strictly follows the training program defined by IPC, both in the teaching material presented and in the assessment tests. Participants receive all the information needed to distinguish acceptance and rejection conditions for the various product classes.
The course duration depends on the chosen certification:
- CIS | Certified IPC Specialist — the course takes place over 3 days, for a total of 24 hours
- CIT | Certified IPC Trainer — the course takes place over 4 days, for a total of 32 hours
- CSE | Certified Standards Expert — the course takes place over 4 days, for a total of 32 hours

Scope and application of the IPC A-610 standard - Module 2
Soldering requirements (including lead-free connections) - Module 3
Acceptance requirements for printed boards (PCBs) and assemblies; criteria for damage evaluation and for assessing assembly cleanliness - Module 4
Mounting and soldering requirements for terminal connections - Module 5
Soldering requirements for the assembly of through-hole technology (PTH) components and wire connections - Module 6
Soldering requirements for the assembly of surface-mount technology (SMT) components and wire connections - Module 7
Hardware installation (mounting of mechanical components)
Who is the course for?
Quality control operators and inspectors, quality engineers, buyers and anyone who uses the standard in their work in electronic assembly companies (OEM/EMS)
Available certification levels:
- CIS | Certified IPC Specialist
- CSE | Certified Standards Expert
- CIT | Certified IPC Trainer
The maximum number of participants is 15; with a minimum of 4 enrollments the course can be held at the customer’s site. No specific prerequisites are required to attend the course.
For certification renewal, the only prerequisite is having previously obtained an IPC A-610 CIS certification.
